Client Background:
The Drop Zone Golf is all about making golf fun and accessible all year round, no matter the weather. Located at Unit 4, Sirhowy, Tredegar, their Foresight Sports VR Golf simulators let you elevate your game with advanced data analytics, allowing you to fine-tune your swing and track your progress. Whether you’re there to sharpen your skills or simply enjoy a fun session, their simulators cater to golfers of all levels, offering an experience that’s both enjoyable and effective.

Project Brief:
The Drop Zone Golf has seen plenty of growth across their first year in business, but wanted to build upon their growing customer base and reach potential customers across a wider demographic through creating more social media content. With the business being run by a small team of people with limited time and knowledge of online content they asked Focus Shift Films to help by taking control of content and social media posting.

Creative Approach:

The Drop Zone Golf has several amazing qualities that are great for creating content! FSF leant into these and created simple, fast turnaround content designed for their target audience – golfers of all shapes, sizes and experiences.

  • Working with the brand guidelines of The Drop Zone Golf, we developed a branded content template suite with backgrounds, frames and graphics to ensure that all content carries the brand identity and provides clear attribution, ensuring that the content stands out on social media.
  • Using the DJi Osmo Pocket 3 we created portrait style social first content around playing golf on the simulators that would work well for the requirements and algorithms of social media platforms.
  • We created content that would appeal to and interest golf fans – playing globally recognised golf courses, challenges, how to’s and tips that any golfer can find value in. This allowed us to create valuable content for their current audience, increase engagement and reach with that core audience, but to also create interest from potential new customers.
  • We used the team to create content – including their Golf Coach Craig Evans and one of the owners Gatch. Using their personality we created content around them and helped ensure they were the faces and personalities behind the brand.
  • We created engaging video content to launch competitions around the golf Majors, with Craig and Gatch taking part in the activity themselves to showcase the challenge.
  • And… we used ChatGPT image creation to jump onto the action figure trend and create them for the team.

Strategic Impact:

  • The content has helped The Drop Zone Golf to increase its visibility across social media and grow its audience. In the first 28 days their Facebook engagement increased massively. Their views increased 328% with 54% of those views from non-followers, their reach increased 179% with 18.7k from non-followers, content interactions increased by 408%, 3 second views by 62400%, watch time increased 60900%, 1 minute views by 100%.
