Client Background:
GoodWe is a world-leading PV inverter and energy storage solutions manufacturer and is listed as a public limited company on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. GoodWe has more than 5,000 employees situated worldwide and is regarded as the Global No. 1 storage inverter supplier by Wood Mackenzie in 2020.

Project Brief:
Focus Shift Films was commissioned to create a story-driven case study video that followed one of GoodWe’s installers, New Dawn Energy, fitting a set of new green energy products into a rural home. This was the first time that New Dawn Energy has installed this equipment, and they were supported by GoodWe’s local team to ensure that it was smooth and successful. The video needed to showcase how GoodWe support their installers in order to provide a quality service for customers, as well as outline the GoodWe products that were being installed.

Creative Approach:

Shoot Set Up:

  • On a beautiful sunny summer’s day we were very excited to send up the drone and capture aerial footage of the house, the solar panels on the roof and the surrounding greenery. Our fully insured and licensed DJI Mini Pro 4 moved around the trees and the house to capture dynamic aerial shots of the location for use across the video.
  • The rest of the content was captured on our Sony FX30 and 24-70mm lens in 4k, providing crisp and cinematic images to tell the story of New Dawn Energy and their journey with GoodWe We shot the interviews in the sunshine out the front of the house, and captured content across the various stages of installation to ensure we had enough B roll to cover the film.

Strategic Impact:

  • This video is being used by GoodWe to showcase the services, products and support they offer installers across the global, with a focus on the UK in this video. Using a story-driven approach to content creation means that we position real people with authentic stories at the centre of the content. Audiences engage with those characters and if the stories resonate with them it will activate them into exploring what GoodWe or New Dawn Energy can offer them, leading to more business enquiries.
