Client Background
Eurekas are a rising indie rock band from Newport, Wales, formed by Jack Perrett and Dan Burridge, known for their energetic dual-lead vocals, catchy indie-punk sound with influences from bands like The Who and Arctic Monkeys, and acclaimed singles such as “Made You Look” and “Ivy”.
Project Brief:
‘Telling On Me’ is a slower, more melodic track led by Dan Burridge. The track is influenced by Dan’s own experiences of life and love, reflecting on his own relationship and his evolution as a person as he’s grown. The band wanted a music video that was simple, but stylish and consisted of Dan reflecting on his relationship.
Creative Approach:
- We worked together to devise an idea around Dan looking at photos of himself and his partner over the years, and included elements of Dan performing with and without the band.
- We booked a practice room in Newport with a plain interior and plenty of space, as well as furniture so that we could capture the entire music video in one place.
- We developed the idea to use a projector that ran a series of images for the entire length of the track, and with those projected across the wall Dan could watch on. We also used the projector to project those images across Dan as he led on the sofa playing guitar to add an additional element to the video.
- Do to unforeseen circumstances on the day – we weren’t able to shoot with the drummer, Morgan, and so planned to shoot his parts on a separate shoot day for another video.
- We also captured the band playing, with Dan as the front man.
- The video was shot in low light, using brown and earthy colours in the video and the edit to give it an autumnal look and feel – with the changing face of the season reflecting Dan’s evolution also.
- In the edit we added on old film and grainy look to the video to develop the stylisation further.
