Client Background
Motor Plus Car Supermarket is one of South Wales’ leading independent used car supermarkets, offering a wide selection of quality vehicles to customers across Newport, Cardiff, Bristol and the surrounding areas. With hundreds of vehicles in stock and a customer-focused approach, Motor Plus uses creative digital marketing and video content to help buyers discover their next car while building a recognisable and engaging brand presence online.
Project Brief:
Focus Shift Films was commissioned to create a promotional video showcasing the range of Ford Puma models available at Motor Plus Car Supermarket. Rather than producing a traditional vehicle walkaround or sales-focused advert, the objective was to create an entertaining, social-first campaign that would stop viewers scrolling, increase brand awareness and encourage audiences to engage with the dealership online. Inspired by the celebrations surrounding Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, the campaign combined humour with automotive marketing to create a memorable piece of branded content.
Creative Approach:
- We developed an original concept featuring our regular presenter, Earl Palmer, taking on the role of “Dai Attenborough” – a playful wildlife presenter observing Ford Pumas as though they were wild animals roaming the urban landscape. Treating the dealership forecourt as a “concrete jungle”, we combined cinematic visuals with nature documentary-inspired narration to create an unexpected and entertaining twist on a traditional car sales video. The parody format immediately captured attention while naturally showcasing multiple Ford Puma models throughout the story.
- Our creative focus was to produce content that entertained first and sold second. By using humour, strong storytelling and a recognisable cultural reference, we created a campaign that felt highly shareable across social media while remaining firmly focused on the client’s objectives. Cinematic camera work, engaging editing and Earl Palmer’s character performance gave the campaign a distinctive personality, helping Motor Plus stand out in a highly competitive automotive market. The final film demonstrated how creative branded storytelling can increase audience engagement while promoting vehicle stock in a fresh and memorable way.
- We produced a follow up video with Dai Attenborough exploring the concrete jungle again this time looking for a Mustang and rare Jaguars. It’s very likely Dai Attenborough will be back again!
