Client Background
Sport Wales are the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales. Working alongside partners such as governing bodies of sport and local authorities, they aim to encourage sporting ambitions in the young and promote championship standards nationally. They are the main adviser on sporting matters to the Welsh Government and are responsible for distributing National Lottery funds to both elite and grassroots sport in Wales.

Project Brief:
As part of She Active Wales – Sport Wales wanted to produce a promo video that used Girls That Judo as a case study for great work being initiated by those within the sport to help increase the number of female participants.
Sport Wales say: Who says judo isn’t for girls? Girls That Judo brings girls from clubs across Wales together to train, share experiences, and build confidence, skills, and friendships. #SheActiveWales | Welsh Judo
Creative Approach:
- Sport Wales have strict content and brand guidelines – which we were happy work within, and to develop ideas around.
- The story was to be captured at a Girls That Judo event at Sport Wales HQ, where we could control the space after the event finished. We captured the event, using the event activity as the backdrop for the interviews, and then after the event shot a selection of judo moves being performed with the main room lighting off and only a backlight – to create stylised series of shots.
- The case study style video is something that we have plenty of experience with, and we have worked with Sport Wales many times before – so working with their guidelines and delivering multiple versions of the final video with English, Welsh and bilingual subs as well as in various formats for YouTube, Instagram and other platforms.
